Abstract: The article focuses on dialogical interaction in the professional institutional context as viewed from the linguistic argumentology perspective. Argumentation is conceptually different from explanation and informing. This paper is an attempt to reveal the peculiarities of an argumentative situation in therapeutic context. Various approaches to dialogue within different schools of the argumentation theory (informal logic, pragma-dialectics, formal dialectics) are analyzed.

Key words: argumentative discourse, argumentative dialogue, argumentative situation, professional linguistic personality, therapeutic discourse.
