Abstract: The article determines the specific character of precedency in the television talk-show discourse on the basis of «The Oprah Winfrey Show». The work defines the term of precedent texts in modern linguistics, explains the meaning of such text reminiscences as allusion, direct citation, quasi-citation, etc., gives the analysis of examples of precedent texts from the above show.
